Baan Ying hails from Bangkok and this is their only overseas outlet. Since 26 January 2019, diners can look forward to a feast every weekend over a spread of 12-15 delectable appetisers, sides and desserts.

The inviting ambiance has plenty of natural light and even a play area for kids!

Weekends are love because of brunches!

Nam Prik
Nam Prik Nhoom, Nam Prik Ong, Nam Prik Shrimp Paste

I've never had this but a particular Thai celebrity that I follow adores this so I've been curious about it for a long time! Hailing from North-east Thailand, this comes in varying degrees of spiciness and I found the shrimp paste the closest to our hae bee hiam, without the punch.

This can be eaten with dishes or with sticky rice.

DIY Som Tum Station

DSC_1818

Baan Ying had their staff toss up a mean version of somtum.

DSC_1827

We had a go at making our own som tum which turned out tasting pretty good as well - but of course leave it to the professionals who'd present a dish of lingering spiciness.

Baan Ying White Sesame Pork

I've seen this on the streets yet never had the guts to try them. Best eaten piping hot, these pork strips are similar to our pork chop with sweet seasoning.

Crispy Wanton Skin with Pork and Shrimp Dip

The pork and shrimp dip is absolutely delicious and was amongst the first few dishes to be gone and I can understand why because these are so addictive!

Thai Style Minced Pork Ball

Prettier to look at than to eat. These pork balls were dry to say the least.

DSC_1793

Crispy Fish Flakes with Mango Salad Dressing

I'm not a fan of the fish flakes that were gummy in texture but the mango salad was definitely on point appetizing.

Thai Style Sweet and Sour Chicken

It tastes just like any other sweet and sour dish, appetizing!

Omelette with Shrimp and Onions

Not sure about the authenticity of these dishes but they are decent zichar dishes.

Glass Noodle Salad

A must eat with such a generous portion of seafood in the tangy vermicelli dish. Gotta love the heat here!

Stir Fried Pork Belly and Pickles

The pickles made this very peranakan, akin to the duck and sour vegetable soup.

Tom Yum Chicken

Clear soup tom yum chicken, I thought this was a refreshing add to the Thai spread instead of Tom Yum Goong.

Pineapple Curry with Pork

The pineapple was barely discernible in this red curry dish, not a common sight but also rather ordinary.

Pork Belly Fried Rice with Salted Egg

A signature and a delicious carb option especially for fried rice fans.

  Grilled Large River Prawns

There are 4 options for main courses and we went ahead with what we thought sounded most thai. The other 2 main courses are salmon steak and beef flank.

Both came on a sizzling hot plate and portions varied for the main course chosen, my river prawns had two compared to the pork chop portion.

Rainbow Ruby

Naturally coloured, the red ruby takes on different colours in this dessert.

Purple Sweet Potato in Coconut Milk

Surprisingly so yummy with coconut milk.
DSC_1839

Also showcased with their homemade coconut flower jellies, so delicious!

$38.80++ per adult, $19.40++ per child (4-10 years old)

Burp and brunch was over. The spread is decent for this price point and the dishes were adequate in variety too.
