Yan Toh Heen @ Intercontinental Hongkong, Hong Kong

Image
Yan Toh Heen was our choice for dimsum since we chose to stay in the same hotel as well - I've definitely not forgotten about Lung King Heen yet with a toddler in tow, our choices were truly limiting. Thankfully, babies, toddlers and kids without an age limit are welcome. Chef's Dimsum Selection Crispy Lobster and Sakura Shrimp Dumpling served in Supreme Broth We were definitely off to a stellar start with a broth and a fried dumpling. Incredibly crispy and that burst of fragrance made this fritter so delicious. When dunked in soup - this is that tipping point that made me go 'wow'. Eaten in two different ways brought about different experiences and this was a gastronomical journey on a plate. Steamed Crabmeat, Seafood and Egg White Dumpling Having started out on a high, this had to be a dimsum low with a pretty much bland dumpling here stuffed with crabmeat and prawns with egg white. Steamed Black Truffles, Mushroom, and Avocado Dumpling Truffle anything in dimsum ge...

Buffet @ Intercontinental Hongkong

Image
Intercontinental Hongkong was our choice for accommodation in Hong Kong, overlooking the Hong Kong harbor but that probably did not make a difference since our hotel was facing the other direction. Welcome amenities that were refilled too! Our room came with a walk in wardrobe, study desk and... A huge toilet! With both standing shower and tub options. Our evening cap of welcome teas from their selection. The night view of the property! Pretty gorgeous I must say though I am not a fan of its location if public transport is the way to go. The flight of stairs and the number of times I went up and down just to access the MTR is no joke. Hopefully with the new mall opening next year, it gets a tad more happening! Breakfast affairs overlooking the half blocked views of the harbor. Crazy busy crowds at breakfast but I must say the restaurant handled it well. We did not have to wait longer than 10 minutes inspite of it operating at full capacity. The mandatory egg station which is always...

Celestial Court @ Sheraton Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Image
Our options for dimsum are a tad more limited with a twoddler since some places have strict rules on the age of the child so then we decided on Celestial Court at Sheraton just opposite where we stayed. It was awarded a Certificate of Distinction by the Michelin guys, not that it mattered to me anyway - good food always prevails! Depending which lift you take, you may end up at different entrances in their humongous restaurant. I am pampered by all these good dimsum in Hongkong such that it has become a basic for dimsum to have delicately thin skin and juicy sweet prawns. Anything less is substandard. I decided to get adventurous with this uni springroll, creamy goodness in every bite. I was still wondering how does cooked uni taste in a fried spring roll. XO Sauce fried cheong fun came in such huge portions, this would serve as a mains itself! Coated with a layer of tasty sauce, each was perfumed with a char and smoky fragrance. I wish we did not over order so I can have m...

Enchanted Garden @ Hongkong Disneyland Hotel, Hong Kong

Enchanted Garden Restaurant is the only restaurant at Hongkong Disneyland Hotel that has character dining and the major plus point for us is the characters visit every table during their buffet timings. And...there are 2 timeslots for dining. For the twodd Enchanted Garden Restaurant is the only restaurant at Hongkong Disneyland Hotel that has character dining and the major plus point for us is the characters visit every table during their buffet timings. And...there are 2 timeslots for dining. For the twoddler and my own curiosity, we had consecutive meals there, dinner and breakfast. Enchanted Garden's all adorned for Halloween! Truly enchanted with the vineyard vibes going on and a faux fountain. Spot Mickey! Goofy in one of the outfits that we saw throughout the two meals. The menu is largely seasonal from the food tags and there was a good spread of western, chinese, japanese and even indian for dinner. Cooked upon ordering, this was steak with mushroom sauce and as...
