Ginza Lion @ Suntec City

Image
Ginza Lion falls under the category of Japanese Beer Hall cum gastropub - multiconcepts if you ask me and I was there for lunch. Sandos are high on their lunch menu as with the roast beef and katsu items based on their menu. I guess you could have beer at lunch if you fancied? Hire and Rosu Katsu Set ($27) All their ramen and katsu sets comes with refillable cabbage, rice and miso - score for the hungry diners! I was definitely satisfied with my single serving. Chicken Katsu Set ($18) The chicken version was definitely more tender than the pork yet somehow I feel pork katsu is always a first choice for me. Oyster ($3.50) Out of gluttony, I had to have a side portion of this juicy one and no regrets because the best way to consume oysters next to having them raw is to katsu them and Ginza Lion does a really mean version of it. Their katsu sets come with freeflow rice, miso soup and cabbage which is a really good deal! I'd be back for more of the other dishes. Ginza Lion Suntec City

Nassim Hill Bistro and Restaurant @ Tanglin Road

Image
I can always count on Nassim Hill for that comforting meal no matter what time of the day or week. Recently, we found ourselves craving for a place to dine, without the fuss and crowds and some decent grub. Didn't help that they were having a corgi meet up there too! Too cute to ignore, though I wish I remembered to take a snap of those gorgeous dogs.   Chilli Crab Pasta ($25) Jumbo Crab, Chilli Crab Sauce, Spaghetti I'm always sold on chilli crab pasta, not just chilli crab because this is my favourite crustacean in a dish without getting my fingers dirty at all. And boy was it a legit gamble. The spiciness was just right and infact, close to my idea of a potent chilli crab dish. Loved the generous crabmeat chunks as well and slurpworthy noodles. In my opinion, best interpretation of chilli crab pasta on our island! Seabass ($25) Seared Seabass, Shitake Mushrooms, Sauteed Spinach, Edamame Beans Despite a fresh and delicious start with the pasta, the seabass had a nosedive with...

Ginza Bairin Revisited @ Ion Orchard

Image
Ginza Bairin remains one of my favourite joints at Ion Orchard Food Basement - for quick queues and reasonably priced food too! Plus, their quality of food has remained consistently so throughout the years - major major plus point with the mushrooming and closing of food establishments so very often. Tonkatsu is Iberian Katsu Set ($21.50) Iberian pork or not, I like mine tender and juicy with a layer of crumbs so crisp, biting into it causes a commotion of its own - juices spilling and the disintegrating of crumbs all over. Yes, eating can be messy sometimes. Ginza Bairin's was spot on with a succulent cut and bread crumbs. My only grouse is the sliced cabbage should be freeflow but it comes at a nominal fee of $1.50. You literally pay to be healthy. Cheese Pork ($4.50) An irresistible order of cheese pork which arrived already busted and cheese had spilled out, unfortunately. I still prefer the iberian pork version.   Cheese Pork Sandwich ($10) Once a fan, still a fan of these thi...
