I guess I like Alvin Leung's cooking style enough to want to check out his local venture at The Capitol Kempinski. Perhaps it was him, or the menu even so off for dinner I went. The swanky hotel somehow failed to impress me at hello - there was a gap in the perceived and presented luxury. 15 by Stamford is not difficult to find since they are the only food and beverage establishment on the ground floor and even without a signboard, we found ourselves at our reserved table in no time. The restaurant is huge and for the capacity that it has, I wonder how often is it operating at full capacity. The bar itself however is more enticing with cosy corners and that sprawling bar counter - next time I muse. The waiter assigned to our table is incredibly helpful, he gave his honest opinions and recommendations. Chargrilled Singapore Chicken Satay and Peanut Sauce ($18) Truth be told I balked at the price tag because every stick costs $3. They remind me of those presented at The Ampang Kitc...

Wah Kee Big Prawn Noodle @ Beach Road

~Invited Session~ Wah Kee Big Prawn Noodle has gotten even more accessible with its latest opening at Beach Road, right next to Golden Mile Hawker center right in the buzzing neighbourhood of Lavender. Ngoh Hiang ($8) Wah Kee Prawn Cracker and Wah Kee Bean Curd Skin Roll with Prawns are new on the menu and comprise of wild caught sea prawns which are also featured in their legendary noodle offerings. Plenty of crunch going on in this ngoh hiang platter but the draw of this dish is the special dipping sauce that packs a mighty punch. Prawn Noodle Soup ($5) This is available in limited stocks daily and is bound to cause quite a queue forming over peak dining hours. The robust prawn stock makes this tick and if all fails, just drink the broth. Big Prawn Noodle Dry ($20) While I was won over at their Esplanade Outlet , the seasoning and noodles were slightly lacking at this outlet. The prawns were still incredibly fresh and chilli paste spot on with enough lard bits and fragrant shallots....
