One Ninety @ Four Seasons Singapore

Image
~Invited Session~ One Ninety unveils a new Chef and also Provencale menu this season to tempt diners with a series of new dishes alongside their semi buffet over weekday night dinners. Just two lines worth and there was so much to eat! Cheese anyone? I have a massive soft spot for cheese, fruit and nut platters. Clearly I forgot what cheese this is, but mighty mighty delicious. It's pungent, so intense and leaves a lingering fragrance. Ah, desserts. These blackberry tartlets were so good, I probably swiped more than I should have. Sugar dusted financiers. One of those frosted cakes that probably was too intimidating for diners to attempt. This was mostly left untouched. I can never say no to freshly baked bread, much less one that comes with cheese, herb oil and pickles. This battle of carbs is always a lose lose one for me because as usual and as predicted I consumed way more than I should at this juncture over crusty bread. The Market Grill Revisited @ Amoy Street

Image
~Invited Session~ With a new Chef onboard and a brunch menu added, The Market Grill looks set for a revamp. Saturday mornings are particularly lazy and they hope to attract more families and I am already tempted! Salmon Benedict ($18) Hash ($24) Sweet potato, potato, farmers sausage, caramelized onion, beans, poached egg Also on the brunch menu is lobster benedict, French toast and chicken and waffles. There is something for everyone! The brunch items served were decent staples though I may return for the lobster benedict since they do lobsters really well. The rest are by the way dishes. Medley of Wagyu Steak Tartare, Pan Seared Scallops, Crispy Pig Ears Tasting portions of a number of their appetisers were presented and crispy pig ears though lacking in seasoning are still my favourite. Crunchy, addictive and still one of my favourites from their menu. Onion Matchsticks ($8) has been given a new lease of life with a spicy aftertaste, this rivals crispy pig ears! Lobster Roll ($52) 5...

Burlamacco Ristorante @ Amoy Street

Image
Burlamacco has been around for quite a long while and sometimes it takes a weekend and two no opinion foodies to just wing it and check out a place on our list. Reservations made and we scored our seats yet last minute they managed to accommodate our request for a baby chair - big brownie points for that. Freshly baked focaccia loaves were served almost promptly to help us deal with the cranky toddler and subsequently refills. Pot-Cooked Black Mussels in White Wine and Herbs ‘Guazzetto’ ($24) I love my mussels plump with juice, cooked just right and laced with wine. The balance of alcohol and herbs is great, I'm not a fan of tasting alcohol in my food. This was so good, we fought for the last drops. Perfect with their baked focaccia if you even have any remainders by the time the dish is served. Green Asparagus ($14) Nothing to rave about though this arrived the latest. Linguine with Boston Lobster Tail in Spicy "Arrabbiata" Sauce ($34) Typically spicy pasta spells unaut...

Tablescape Revisited @ Grand Park City Hall

Image
Second time back at Tablescape to escape the work day blues, pun intended. I finally got a decent snap of the dessert trolley and honestly it is only worth the while if one is partaking of the set menu to try the trolley. The pretty rosette cake! Our cute Korean waiter doing his bread introduction and creaming the churned butter. Carb heaven. As long as one orders from their ala carte, you get access to their bread trolley and from the last visit, I already knew which were my favourites yet the team so graciously allowed us one of everything. Crabmeat appetizer! Squid ink brioche topped with a sundried tomato and olive bread with salted butter made good of my calories. Prosciutto Ham wrapped Monkfish and Maine Lobster ($42) Risotto in Armagnac Bisque The lobster definitely scored high for presentation marks, stacked above the prosciutto ham rolled monkfish. Creamy risotto, succulent lobster and an overly salty ham wrapped monkfish. I admit being a tad disappointed with the salti...

Amo @ Hong Kong Street

Image
Amo at Hong Kong Street has been causing abit of buzz with their instagrammable dishes, a botanic themed backyard and a open kitchen so inviting...not forgetting the old school gates that marries both the past and present in one. There are so many design elements that get me going - #dreamkitchen #dreamcorners #dreamon. That said, I was apprehensive about Amo...as with most other places that get a wee bit too much exposure on social media. Yet, the birthday girl's wishes always trump and so it was to Amo for a celebration. Burrata with Eggplant Salad and Bottarga ($24) The cheese fan in me screams hola. So good with the eggplant salad which is not the usual choice of greens for a cheese salad and those sprinklings of bottarga. A lovely plate of textures and creamyness, and definitely an appetizing start to the meal. Crispy Calamari with Sumac and Sundried Tomato Aioli ($22) Light batter around such tender rings, the sundried tomato aioli is the bomb dip with these popcorn ca...
