Cracker Jack @ Tanjong Pagar

Tanjong Pagar Road is so overstudded with bridal studios, when a cafe takes over, the row suddenly seems different. Cracker Jack has been under my radar for quite awhile now and then, one of those days that I need some me time, I found myself in a row of likeminded diners. People work furiously on laptops, some staring into space and others like me, are quietly observing. Such is the dynamics of the working lunch goers at Cracker Jack. Somewhat eclectic, if you ask me. And then I find out Cracker Jack's by the same people behind i28 HongKong Street and Proof and Company Spirits. The Assembly Ground @ The Cathay

The dining outlets at The  Cathay have changed so many time hands  that I lost track, The Assembly Ground is both a lifestyle shop and cafe. There is just something about hung lights, fairy lights and brick walls that make cafes extra cosy. My life goals scribbled on the wall. Dried baby's breath, another of my cafe floral favourites. Their menu was 2 pages worth with reasonable variety. Nymph of the Nile ($6.50) I definitely was not expecting a tea bag in a cup, and at $6.50 refills could be done on our own with the complimentary hot water supply at the side. That said, it just threw me off guard with a tea bag in a cup. Americano ($5) Truffle Fries ($10) Straight Cut Fries, Parmesan, Truffle Oil, Truffle Aioli Greasy tummy fillers, the passe truffle fries still gets my vote every time I spot it on the menu.
