Afternoon Tea @ MO Bar

~Invited Session~

With the all new MO Bar, the Axis Bar vibes are replaced with a completely different vibe.

There's a brand new cocktail bar that comes with it - great for sundown particularly and in December, there's a festive menu for their famous high tea.

Berries infused tea jelly, cinnamon red fruit emulsion

Wagyu short rib, red wine cabbage, kueh pie tee
Lobster, asian pear, mini cone
Charcoal cracker, confit tomato, mint chutney

I liked this trio and there were a few surprises. Wagyu short rib in kueh pie tee was a carnivore version of this vegetarian delight except it was on the sweet side because of the red wine cabbage. As for the cone, a bigger cone would be great! Who would mind more lobster? At first glance the confit tomato resembled salmon confit, small on taste but so yummy!

Balik salmon, cucumber, horseradish cream, brioche
Foie gras, pistachio lollipop
Chicken croquet, porcini, micro cress
Beetroot tart, blue cheese, winter root vegetables

Things started getting playful and stronger flavoured morsels with horseradish, foie gras and blue cheese featured. The lolly is worth seconds with a savoury filling that greets - savoury lollies aren't too bad an idea actually!

Ginger spiced orange candied scone
Madagascar vanilla scone

High tea is not complete without tea and of course, warm buttery scones. These are as I hoped, so filling and really delicious. Clotted cream and fruit preserve are usually not high on my list of favourites yet with scones, these become highly sought after.

Char siew turkey, cranberry pie
Chestnut, mushroom roll, red onion jam

I relished the idea of savouries on a high tea menu and was somewhat disappointed when they both turned out on the sweet side.

Cinnamon cherry chocolate mousse
Pecan frangipane tart
Segana strawberry roll
Christmas fruit cake spiced meringue
Christmas chocolate log cake
Chestnut pain de genes, chantilly cream

Christmas themed sweet treats make it to the list with so many seasonal favourites! I liked the cherry chocolate mousse best especially when it looks just like an apple!

Chocolate, pralines

At last, chocolates saved for the very last which I thought was a brilliant move because by now the pot of tea would have reached its last drop and these were just perfect.

High tea is always a good idea, and better still when there's a view to match.

$48 per person or $88 for two
