Ah Mah Homemade Cake @ Terminal 3
~Invited Session~
Ah Mah is now into their 13th outlet at Changi Airport and with this new opening, we were treated to two exclusive flavours for the month of December!
Hello exclusive flavours! I expect the snaking queues...
Without a doubt their cakes first catch your attention through the fragrance that wafts through the airport. I had the privilege to steal a glimpse at how they bake their cakes - clearly, I learnt zilch of the secret behind these fluffy cakes but I guess, I really do not mind paying for them!
Freshly squeezed pandan extract goes into this thick and very creamy cake mixture.
I'm amazed how much hand work is involved in getting one tray out - those arm muscles are really built!
Smoothening of the layer for that perfect poof.
Lo and behold, fresh out of the oven!
Only the original and pandan gets inked!
Pandan ($11)
Made with pandan leaves extract, this fragrant one gives our famed pandan chiffon a run for its money. Light and springy, my vote's on this one for best seller of the two.
Can you guess what flavor is this?
It's milo dinosaur with such generous lashings of milo powder in between layers!
Hot off the oven in such an even shade of brown!
Then came the condensed milk drizzles.
For more milo powder!
Milo Dinosaur ($13)
I've not quite been a milo dinosaur fan but I love my iced milo from the milo trucks. This comes layered in milo powder and gets a lovely coat of sweetened milk before more milo powder gets peppered on. Rich and somewhat guilty but the lightness of the cake makes up for the guilt.
Their cakes have been our healthier choice these days since they are made purely with milk, eggs and flour. No water nor preservatives and colouring are added. Of all their flavours, I rank the original and pandan tops.
Merry Belated Christmas everyone!
