Ippudo Kuro-Obi @ Marina Bay Sands

~Invited Session~

Our ramen scene just got more exciting with Ippudo's first and only concept shop outside of New York, Kuro-Obi, opening at Marina Bay Sands.

We were treated a live demonstration on how their ramen is prepared.

Tori Paitan is the star on their menu and features a chicken soup base and al dente sweet potato noodles.

To meet ever-changing consumer preferences, their ramen can be customized by choosing from texture of the noodles to soup concentration, stock richness to condiment add-on such as garlic and onion.

This comes with a scoop of pow wow spicy shrimp paste which lacked the spice but made up for it with tasty shrimps. Unless you love your food strong in taste, this may not be suitable. The noodles were chewy but oddly cut, so the satisfaction of slurping seemingly neverending oodles is missing.

Crispy Corn

These corn fritters dusted with paprika make great pub grub, dig in quick before they end up soggy.

Samurai Ribs

Browned and kissed with seasoning, these tasty ribs were a surprise standout of the appetizers that night.

Pork Belly Buns

Khong Bak pau sans the braising, this palm sized Miss Piggy missed out on some fragrance and oomph from jellied fat and soya sauce of the real deal. Otherwise, just an appetizer to silence those hunger pangs whilst waiting for my ramen.

Almond jelly noodle

I had fun slurping my jelly noodles and sipping my sweet almond milk. Trust the Japanese to make a sweet version of their savoury dishes.

Prices are kept pocket friendly, starting from $8. I do foresee crowds filling the place fast, infact, there is more choice for food court goers. So do drop by if you're looking for something cheap, something tasty and something reasonably good!
