The Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa @ Sentosa

I cannot resist staycations, or any reason not to report for work on a workday. Such is a treat when the birthday surprise included a staycation at The Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa - pity no spa packages involved but the gesture was sweet enough!

Replacing the now defunct Sentosa Resort and Spa, the place is spruced up and looking alot better than it used to, a difference going under the wing of a French luxury group does.

So much love for this chandelier!

Splashes of colour in the reception.

A pity this was no infinity pool!

Spot trees with thorns!

Plenty of such bronze structures around the property.

Our room located in the Peace Wing was like its name suggests, very peaceful. Comes with a king sized bed, a beverage cart that was so stylish (it can be passed off as a piece of furniture even!) and I fell in love with the room fixtures.

So pretty, yes?

And the french Italian coffee machine that provided much of the caffeine boosters the addict needed.

DSC_9545

TWG teas are also available in the bar. Now a cookie jar would have completed the experience.

DSC_9547

Amazing lights in the toilet.

DSC_9548

An inviting long bath that I wish I had my bath salts with me.

DSC_9550

Lanvin bath amenities. All eyes on the vanity box!

DSC_9553

View from the room, totally not looking like my country at all!

DSC_9558

For the first time ever, I propped myself on the bed for a good afternoon enjoying the room fully instead of raring to go out and venture. So much so, there was reason for room service. It is a pity there is no deli - so no choice but room service. Think $30 laksa and nasi lemak for a start.

Portobello Mushroom Sandwich ($20)
Mozzarella Cheese, Hummus Spread, Arugula, Belgium Fries

DSC_9581

I am usually not an advocator for room service - overpriced, takes forever and by the time food comes, I may be on the brink of starvation.

An hour it took and we ended up not being very hungry afterall. Toasted foccacia sandwiches with a generous portion of mozzarella cheese and mushrooms! I have never quite been a vegetarian sandwich fan - maybe it was the hummus or the cheese but it was so tasty. And belgium fries or not, we lapped them up greedily with that cute bottle of french ketchup. Details, the details.

DSC_9561

Complimentary fish spa that goes us all tickled and satisfying the curiosity of having a school of fish nibbling at my feet.

DSC_9566

One interesting encounter on top of spotting peacocks on the property. Turns out, they are as treasured as kangaroos in Australia - vehicles stop for them to cross the roads even.

DSC_9537

Peacock alert, they strut so freely around the property and are exceptionally close to the garden villas. Book one to view them upclose and personal.

Late check out at 4pm is a sweetener - now why did I bother with an early lunch reservation even. Dang!

Our stay was comfortable though pillows were definitely too soft and the eerie walkway at night with lights completely off! A chambermaid himself got a fright when he stepped out and saw us.
