Vita Italiana @ Mosque Street




Vita Italiana is helmed by chef Jeremy and inspired by the Mediterranean, the folks at Vita Italiana bring together a love of life, food, and wine, making dining a true Italian family affair. I dropped by on a weekday afternoon and it was mostly empty - sure looks like I booked the whole restaurant!




Bismarck Pizza ($24)

I was disappointed with the overcooked egg on a doughy pizza base. Not the bestest of all pizzas but for 12 inches, this had the bang for my buck.

Set Lunch ($15)

3 courses for just $15 gets you soup, mains, dessert or a drink. A great deal I say for lunch since their mains already cost more than $15.



Cream of Brocolli was really delicious.



Tomato Penne turned out best eaten alongside the pizza that was overflowing with ingredients.

Instead of Chocolate Bread and Butter Pudding, we opted for tea. A move that ended up being overcharged.

Check your bill properly because I ended up being charged for my Earl Grey that was supposedly included in the set. $4.50 was returned without the taxes and surcharge.

Vita Italiana is friendly and cosy but lacking some finesse that the finer establishments can offer.

Baba Steven or Chef Steven is endearingly known as has been whipping up peranakan feasts from his Bukit Batok Home since he retired. We booked a table of 8 for a $450 dinner comprising of 8 dishes. Paradise Teochew @ Scotts Square

~Invited Session~ Move over set menus, we now have individual set menus with dishes individually plated and these come at a pocket friendly $38++ onwards. Taste Paradise and Paradise Teochew are the two restaurants under Paradise Group with these newly launched menus. The featured menu goes for a tune of $38++, there is an option for wine pairing at a top up of $38++ as well. Jin Hua Fish Head Bee Hoon (金华鱼头米粉) @ Old Airport Food Center

Jin Hua is a household name for fish soup in CBD , very much so that I have joined the relentless queues during lunch just for a bowl of steaming hot goodness. Hurray to this franchise which also sports queues but more forgiving ones! Even way past 2 pm, the queues were neverending. Sliced Fish Soup ($5) Bland broth in comparison to Hougang Hai Zhen Yuan's, the sliced fish slices made it worse since they were barely seasoned too.   It may problems with a franchise but I still prefer their fried fish version over sliced.
