The Wicked Garlic @ Cineleisure Orchard

Image
These guys practically own the lunch scene at International Plaza and it used to amaze me how people are willing to smell like their lunch. At their second outlet, there's a lot more space and ventilation is so much better! Gnocchi with Truffle Cream Sauce ($22) Handmade gnocchi filled with potato, tossed with bacon cream sauce, parmigiano cheese shavings and drizzled with truffle oil First up, the gnocchis were fried so the classic fans would take offense at this audacious move. I still enjoyed my fried nuggets and found the pairing of bacon cream with cheese terribly filling. Great for sharing else risk a food coma. Curry Prawn Risotto ($23) 6 King sized prawns, Italian Arborio rice, local curry spices I love my curries and risottos separately yet when placed together, it ended up way too heavy. The curry powder after taste was overpowering and ended up confusing - was this meant to be a dry curry or risotto dish? Granchio E Pepe ($15) Homemade tomato sauce, crab meat, peppercorn

Blue Lotus Eating House Revisited @ Quayside Isle

Image
I haven't gotten sick of Blue Lotus...yet and that really does spell more visits until I can check off all that I want to try from their menu. Fact is, I love the whole riveside vibe, it is less chaotic, rowdy and the human traffic at Blue Lotus is expectedly brisk but throw me good food, I am all good. Blue Lotus Signature Lemongrass Prawn Sticks with Citrus Spicy Dressing ($18) It seems like one of the must order signatures and their fish skin and pork belly are stellar so I did think this would be a home run. Except, it was missing out some oomph. Prawn sticks with chestnuts and some mince made for a decent starter, just not wow. Josper Grilled Barramundi Fish Fillet with Pickled Chilli Sauce ($34) I have no reason not to include this in my list of favourite dishes. Crispy skin, succulent flesh and on point piquant chilli sauce that rendered this so yummy with just rice. Poached Chinese Spinach with Superior Stock and Duo Eggs ($24) just because we wanted something soupy and n

Heritage Weekend Buffet @ The Lobby Lounge, Shangri-la Singapore

Image
~Invited Session~ Driven by a mission to preserve the heritage of hawker dishes, the team at Shangrila Singpaore has teamed up with a number of hawkers to present a showcase of curated local dishes and a series of Heritage Weekend PopUps. I clearly had more than enough to eat from the buffet line even before the 7 legends descended at my table. Special mention goes to their lor bak, achar and salted vegetable duck soup! With a choice of one hawker classic, diners get to enjoy hawker food in the comfort of the lounge and also a semi buffet of savoury and sweets. I had a taste of the legendary 7 that is available at the buffet and also ala carte. These dishes were selected based on their origins - which was the first restaurant to serve chilli crab? So on and so forth. Bak Chor Mee with Fish Maw Soup Seng Kee Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle Their signature fish maw soup actually sells out before the noodle does at the hawker stall! Brewed with pork bones and dried sole, it is no wonder

Monti @ 1 Pavillion

Image
Monti celebrates their first year with a bang - throwing in one for one lunch deals which caught my attention and in true Singaporean kiasu style I got my lunch booked within days. Replacing the previous Catalunya, the interior is mostly retained and the view of Marina Bay Sands is unbeatable. Onion and Thyme Sea Salt Bread Roll House smoked Nori Butter, Sesame and Seaweed Furikake These fluffy butter rolls were so soft and fragrant and we had two helpings with the nori butter. Pan seared Hokkaido Scallop Celeriac Puree, Porcini Mushroom, Chestnut, Truffle Caviar Pan seared White Cod Parma Ham, Smoked Almond Romesco, Squid Ink, Asparagus, Mediterranean Olive, Kale 48 Hours Sous Vide Beef Short Ribs Truffle Pommes Puree, Asparagus, Brussel Sprout, Crispy Toast, Barolo Wine Sauce The battle of the mains with two strong contenders and by default it would have been beef short ribs but I ordered white cod anyway for comparison. Surprise is the last thing on my mind, ham drapped protei
