IndoChilli @ Tanjong Pagar Center

I've probably walked and driven past IndoChilli at Zion Road too many times for it to even register that there is more than one outlet in Singapore. In fact, it has been such a long while since I've had Indonesian food. Sate Ayam Madura ($9.80) Charcoal grilled chicken skewer  These chicken satays are definitely better than the hawker equivalent with meatier bites and plenty of char flavour. My only grouse is, the marinate is on the sweet side. Tahu Telor ($8.80) Beancurd omellette served with sweet peanut sauce Sweet, sweet, and too sweet. The distribution of ingredients were a tad lopsided - soggy omelette and too sweet dry peanut sauce. Gado Gado Siram ($6.80) Mixed vegetable salad dressed in smooth peanut sauce Another one that ends up sweet despite the amount of boiled cabbage, long beans and potatoes in the dish. Wheelhouse Revisited @ The Tanglin Club

I love dining at the recreational clubs because of the great value meals they offer. Surely the membership fees count towards discounted food but that said, I still love a good deal when I see it. Wheelhouse at Tanglin Club is a casual bistro style family restaurant with no age restrictions (this is especially important when baby is in tow).  Their $15.90 salad buffet was the steal. Freshly baked bread which comprised of bread rolls, artisanal loaves and even bread sticks with the must try herb butter. This has been the winning combination for me since the day I discovered the magic of these two together. And pile on the salads we did. The combinations were endless and even the self toss station for rojak was delicious. I love mine laden with enough prawn paste for the extra punch and more pineapples and tau pok instead of cuttlefish. On top of all the greens, there was a hot dish of the day.   It has been so many years since the first visit so that kind of nudged us for a return. Afterall, Raffles Place over the weekend is happiness for us these days. No crowds, no queues and best of all...no time wasted for food. Garlic and Herb Foccacia ($5) Foccacia loaves a stack of love, crusty edges and pillowy soft innards. I have a love hate affair with bread and this was clearly a love. Cherry Tomato and Avocado Bruschetta ($15) These bruschettas were less satisfying than the focaccia itself, it could have been the avocado and tomatoes that made it slightly soggy. ​ Baccala Cakes with Sea Urchin Sabayon ($18) Cod cakes which could be passed off as crab cakes were a crispy delight. I love the crisp exterior and creamy sea urchin sabayon. The only grouse was, the sea urchin was not obvious in taste but definitely made up in colour. TKY - SIN : Singapore Airlines

I was definitely not looking forward to leaving Japan and returning home, what more when we are leaving via Haneda which according to travellers is alot smaller and has fewer shops than Narita Airport. We checked in early enough for some time at the ANA Lounge and I found a spot with such a pretty view of the aeroplanes. Sake fresh from the tap? These intrigued me but I was not up for sake so early in the day, unfortunately. More spirits, anyone? The lounge area was spacious enough to throw a party even with plenty of counter seats and cushion seats which were all occupied. A rather limited selection of cold and warm dishes were available. Nothing fancy, just good enough for nibbles before more food on board the plane! Abit of everything got me a full plate of food, even. Salad in Japan is a different ball game altogether, exceptionally crisp greens and even a normal dressing tastes great.
